The number of Northern Michigan Events that take place on Mackinac Island, Saint Ignace and Mackinaw City each summer and fall can make your Mackinac Island vacation an action pack holiday for you and your family. The events vary from geocaching, biking, running races, sail boat races, terrific festivals, musical events to even a Skipping Stone Contest. There is definitely one to make your vacation memorable!

April Events

Geocaching Spring Fling on April 29-30 beginning at the Grand Hotel is in its 5th year and is getting more and more popular. What is geocaching? Basically its just a fun outdoor game of hiding and seeking a treasure. There will be around 90 hidden Geocaches (treasures) on Mackinac Island and the hunt to find them will begin on Saturday morning. All you need is a GPS device, a bike will help since the geocaches are hidden all around the island and, of course, be ready for a fun filled two day event.

August Events

In August there is a terrific Mackinac Island Music Festival with the dates being August 16-18. The music ranges from classical, to rock, to funk to whatever the bands creative juices come up with. More information will be coming later in the season.

August 27 & 28 – Native American Pow Wow and French Culture Re-enactment.

If you and your family want to learn more about the wonderful history of this northern Michigan area then head to the Native American Pow Wow which includes A Taste Of Ojibwa And Early French Culture at Father Marquette Memorial Park near the Mackinac Bridge, St. Ignace. Super September northern Michgan events on the Island…

The Labor Day festivities are totally terrific on Mackinac Island. The biggest event is the 54th Annual Bridge Walk/Run on Monday, September 5 at 7:00 a.m.

Keep your running shoes on for
the 8 Mile Run Mackinac race on September 10, 2011.
It’s a spectacular time of the year on the Island…with children back in school most of the tourists are gone and the weather has just the hint of fall. It’s Fabulous!

October Events

Another running event across the Mackinac Bridge is being held on October 8, 2011. To read and to register for the
