2012 Summer Fun
Northern Michigan festivals are so varied there should never be a time during your Mackinac Island or northern Michigan vacation to be bored. There are hundreds of fun filled festivals, fairs and other events that are only a short drive away to either the Upper Peninsula or to
the other great Northern Michigan vacation destinations.
July – Northern Michigan Festivals
July 7 – 14, 2012 in Traverse City, Michigan is The National Cherry Festival
The National Cherry Festival is awesome! There are events for everyone – young and old. The events vary from
- beach volleyball tournaments,
- Million Dollar Hole in One Golf Contest,
- to a Kids’ Cherry Pie Eating Contest
- to a Cherry Pie Baking Contest,
- to Ultimate Air Dogs show
- to food galore, and definitely beer and wine to go with the food.

July 13 – 15, 2012 near Cross Village is The Blissfest Music Festival.
If you love music then don’t miss the 32nd Annual Blissfest Music Festival! This festival is a celebration of Bluegrass, Blues, Cajun, Celtic, Folk, Jazz, Latin, Ethnic music in one of the most picturesque settings in all of rural northern Michigan.

July 16-22, 2012 in Indian River is the Indian River Summerfest
They say all roads lead to the river…that’s the Indian River especially if you live in northern Michigan. Great fishing, great tubing and just plain great fun on all the lakes and streams that lead to this terrific festival.

July 21 – 28, 2012 in Charlevoix is the Venetian Festival.
This festival began 82 years ago as a quaint candle-lit boat parade but has grown into a week-long flurry of boats and pageantry within the many waterfront parks of Round Lake Harbor and Lake Charlevoix. It is simply wonderful and attracts tens of thousands of visitors.

July 14 – 16, 2012 on Mackinac Island is the
84th Annual Bayview Port Huron to Mackinac Race.
August Northern Michigan Festivals
August 8 -12, 2012 on Mackinac Island is the 4th Annual

On Labor Day there is a two day Rendezvous of the Straits, Pow Wow Festival that will provide you and your family a chance to see an Ojibwa Pow Wow plus a historical re-enactment of the French traders way of life in the New World. To learn more about
