All three companies are safe and dependable. All have docks with ample parking (at their Mackinaw City or St. Ignace docks) with crews ready to assist you with your luggage, bikes and other gear. It is always nice, although not required, to tip the people who unload your car and put your belongings on a cart for the boat.
It’s best to choose your ferry service by the location of their dock to your lodging or destination. All three can arrange taxi service to
Hotels and other Lodging.
They also have porters that will take your luggage to your destination for a fee. However, if these items aren’t in your budget then choose your ferry wisely.

Insider Tip:If your plans are to stay on the eastern side of the Island then the Arnold Ferry dock is the best choice. If your lodging is on the western side then Shepler’s or Star Line are the best choices. This might sound silly but lugging your suitcases, strollers, or back packs a few extra blocks through busy and crowded Main Street is not fun!
